‘British Electric Foundation are proud to present a unique and exciting performance at the Rewind Festival featuring legendary artists.’
Martyn Ware has produced and performed Human league, Heaven 17 and British Electric Foundation over a career spanning over 35 years. He has now assembled a stellar line-up featuring the full Heaven 17 band performing songs made famous by the stars themselves and cover versions in the inimitable BEF electronic pop style - featuring Glen Matlock, Claudia Brücken, Heaven 17’s Glenn Gregory, Jaki Graham, Kim Appleby, Joy Divisions Peter Hook, Jilted John, Rozalla, Owen Paul and The Farm’s Peter Hooton.
Jilted John is the musical character created by actor/musician Graham Fellows, better known in recent years for the roll neck sweater and leather coat clad, John Shuttleworth, beloved by comedy fans and Radio 4 listeners.
Graham was an 18 year old drama student at Manchester Polytechnic when, in 1978, he grabbed a guitar in the college canteen and wrote "Gordon Is A Moron" which was released on local indie label, Rabid Records before being picked up by EMI. The song was a massive hit selling half a million copies, and became the singalong hit of the Summer of 78.An album, True Love Stories, followed and then Graham returned to acting, in repertory theatres where roles included Paul McCartney in the musical "Lennon" at the Liverpool Everyman. Graham also became the first and only actor to appear on Coronation Street as two different characters who both tried to go out with Gail Tilsley !
Over 30 years later, with many TV, radio and stage appearances as John Shuttleworth under his belt, Graham revived Jilted John at the Rebellion Festival earlier this year, to wild applause and critical acclaim. A UK tour to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Jilted John single is being planned for 2018.
